Abstract
The dynamic, mechanical behaviour of a chicken egg is assessed. Experimental modal analysis tests revealed several spherical modes in the 2– frequency band. An identification of the mode shapes, the resonant frequencies and corresponding damping ratios of these modes is obtained. The study allows the interpretation of the vibration response of an egg excited at its equator with a light mechanical impact which could open the door towards an automated egg inspection system.
